Poached Lettuce

Summary:

This is a simple and refreshing vegan dish where lettuce is briefly poached to retain its crisp texture, complemented by a light and savory sauce.

Ingredients:

Lettuce 300g (whole or cut into sections, washed and drained)

Water as needed (for blanching)

Salt 1/2 teaspoon

Vegetable oil 1 tablespoon

Light soy sauce 1 tablespoon (optional)

Vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce 1 tablespoon (optional)

White sesame seeds 1 teaspoon (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare Ingredients:
Wash the lettuce thoroughly, keep it whole or cut into large sections, and drain excess water.

2. Boil Water and Blanch:
Bring a pot of water to a boil, add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil. Add the lettuce and blanch for 10-15 seconds until it turns bright green, then remove and drain.

3. Prepare the Sauce (Optional):
Mix light soy sauce, vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce, and a small amount of warm water in a bowl, stirring well.

4. Plating and Sauce Drizzling:
Arrange the blanched lettuce neatly on a serving plate and drizzle with the prepared sauce (if using). Sprinkle white sesame seeds for garnish.

5. Serve and Enjoy:
Serve immediately while warm for the best texture, or pair with rice or porridge for a balanced meal.
