说与不说之间
有一次，摩揭陀国的大臣禹舍婆罗门，到舍卫城竹林园拜访佛陀。
禹舍婆罗门对佛陀说：
「尊者瞿昙！我是这样的一个人：凡是我亲眼所见的，我会准确地描述出来；凡是我亲耳所听说的，我会完全照我听到的陈述出来；凡是我所觉了的，我会按照我所觉了的说出来，从不失真。」
佛陀对这样的行径并不完全同意，就对大臣禹舍说：
「婆罗门！我不说『应当将所有看到的一切说出来』，我也不说『不应当将所有看到的一切说出来』，所听到的、所觉了的也一样，不说『应当』或『不应当』将所听到、所觉了的一切全部说出来。
婆罗门！如果将所看到的说出来，会造成不善法的增加，善法的减少，那么，我就不说，反之，如果能促成不善法的减少，善法的增加，我就会说。听到的、觉了的也一样。」

Between Saying and Not Saying
Once, a minister named Yushe Brahman from the Kingdom of Magadha visited the Buddha at the Bamboo Grove Monastery in Savatthi.
Yushe Brahman said to the Buddha,
”Revered Gautama! I am the kind of per son who describes accurately whatever I see with my own eyes; I report exactly what I hear with my own ears; I speak based on my own realizations without distortion.”
The Buddha did not completely agree with this approach and responded to Minister Yushe,
”Brahman! I do not say that ‘one should reveal everything one sees,’ nor do I say, ‘one should not reveal everything one sees.’ The same applies to what is heard or realized. I do not assert that ‘one should’ or ‘should not’ disclose everything one has heard or understood.
Brahman! If revealing what one sees leads to an increase in unwholesome actions and a decrease in wholesome actions, then I would not speak of it. Conversely, if it promotes the reduction of unwholesome actions and the increase of wholesome actions, then I would speak of it. The same holds for what is heard and realized.”
