精进求法的均儒邻
从前有一个国王名叫梵摩难。他平日乐善好施，在国内供养许多诚心拜佛、笃信佛教的僧侣。
每当斋戒的日子，国王总是劝导人们前往寺庙听法，遵从佛陀的旨意；每当佛陀讲解佛法的时候，国王也总是认真恭敬地聆听。
国王有一个太子，名叫均邻儒，他经常随同父王一起听佛陀讲法。他很喜欢佛陀所教授的道理，总是专心听讲，领悟得很快。
终于有一天，太子均邻儒对国王表明自己的心意。
太子说：「父王，我们能遇上佛陀、接触到佛法，是多么难得啊！可惜我现在能够听到的经法太少了，恳请父王允许我出家，跟在佛陀身边修行吧！」
国王被太子的真诚感动，就顺从太子的意愿，准许他出家。
均邻儒辞别父王，来到佛陀所在的地方，请求佛陀让他做一个比丘。佛陀见均邻儒出家的信心很坚定，便收他当弟子。从此以后，均邻儒遵照佛陀的旨意，严格遵守戒律，勤奋修行。经过三个月的努力修行，他终于成为一个阿罗汉。
国王这时还不知道太子已经得道，见他日夜勤学苦修，餐餐都是粗茶淡饭，就经常给他送些好吃的，但均邻儒总是不肯接受。国王看他是发自内心的拒绝，不解地问太子说：
「在我统治的国土内，有许多奇珍异宝可以让你享受不尽，还有很多美味的饭菜供你品尝。你身为太子，为什么乐于做一个清苦的修行人呢？」
这时，只见均邻儒的身体从地面上轻轻升到半空中，在空中自由飞来飞去，一下子将身体分成几份，一下子又将身体全部散开，或出现、或消失，变化无常。
国王见到他的儿子竟有如此的神通变化，原本怜悯太子受苦的难过心情随即转变成见到太子得道的欢欣喜悦。国王急忙五体投地向均邻儒行礼，并请太子讲解佛法。
国王问：「我诚心学佛很久了，但是一直不能解脱烦恼，这是为什么？」
均邻儒为国王向佛陀请教，佛陀让均邻儒为国王讲述人生「苦」、「空」、「无常」等道理。
经过均邻儒的讲述，国王终于明白佛经的义理，解除了内心长久以来的烦恼，并发愿永远护持佛教、供养僧众。

Junrulin’s Diligent Pursuit of the Dharma
Long ago there was a king named Brahmanan. In his daily life he delighted in acts of generosity and often made offerings to many monks in his kingdom who sincerely revered the Buddha and faithfully practiced the teachings.
Whenever days of fasting and observance arrived, the king would encourage the people to go to the monasteries to hear the Dharma and to follow the teachings of the Buddha. Whenever the Buddha expounded the Dharma, the king himself would also listen with deep reverence and attention.
The king had a crown prince named Junrulin. He frequently accompanied his father to listen to the Buddha’s teachings. He greatly admired the principles taught by the Buddha, always listening attentively and quickly grasping their meaning.
One day the prince finally expressed his wish to the king.
The prince said,
“Father, how rare it is for us to encounter the Buddha and come into contact with the Dharma! Yet the teachings I can hear now are still too few. I respectfully request that you allow me to leave home and become a monk, so that I may follow the Buddha and cultivate the path.”
The king was moved by the prince’s sincerity and granted his request.
Junrulin bid farewell to his father and went to the place where the Buddha was residing, asking to be admitted as a monk. Seeing that his resolve to renounce the world was firm, the Buddha accepted him as a disciple. From that time onward, Junrulin followed the Buddha’s instructions, strictly observing the precepts and practicing with diligence. After three months of earnest cultivation, he attained the state of an Arhat.
The king, however, did not yet know that the prince had realized the Way. Seeing that his son studied and practiced day and night, living only on simple food and drink, the king often sent him fine dishes. Yet Junrulin always refused them.
Seeing that the prince declined sincerely from the heart, the king asked in confusion:
“Within my kingdom there are countless treasures for you to enjoy, and many delicious foods for you to taste. As a crown prince, why are you content to live as a poor and austere cultivator?”
At that moment Junrulin’s body gently rose from the ground and ascended into the air. In midair he moved freely, sometimes dividing his body into several forms, sometimes dispersing it completely; sometimes appearing, sometimes disappearing, manifesting many transformations at will.
When the king saw that his son possessed such miraculous powers, the sorrow he had felt out of pity for the prince’s hardships immediately turned into great joy upon realizing that his son had attained the Way. The king hastily prostrated himself before Junrulin and requested that the prince expound the Dharma.
The king asked:
“I have sincerely studied the Buddha’s teachings for a long time, yet I have never been able to free myself from my afflictions. Why is this so?”
Junrulin then consulted the Buddha on the king’s behalf. The Buddha instructed Junrulin to explain to the king the principles of suffering, emptiness, and impermanence.
Through Junrulin’s explanation, the king finally understood the true meaning of the scriptures. The afflictions that had long troubled his heart were dispelled, and he made a vow to forever protect the Buddha-Dharma and to support the monastic community.
