Sitting Meditation

Naturally Arising Light Ease

During meditation, practitioners may experience a gentle sense of ease—the body feels relaxed, the mind softens, and a quiet stability emerges.

This state is known as light ease.True ease is not something to be pursued;it arises naturally when effort relaxes, awareness stabilizes, and resistance fades.

1.What Is Light Ease?

1.Ease in the body

Tension dissolves, and the body feels light and effortless.

2.Ease in the mind

The mind no longer grasps or rushes, resting gently and steadily.

3.Non-stimulating comfort

This is not excitement or pleasure, but a calm, sustainable well-being.

2.How Does Ease Arise Naturally?

1.When excessive effort falls away

Letting go of control allows natural balance to return.

2.When awareness becomes gentle and continuous

Not rigid focus,but soft presence.

3.When resistance dissolves

Thoughts and sensations are allowed, inner conflict decreases.

3.Common Signs of Ease

1.Breath becomes subtle and natural

Unforced and smooth.

2.Bodily boundaries soften

The body feels less solid, more unified.

3.A weakened sense of time

No urgency,no anticipation.

4.The Relationship Between Ease and Concentration

1.Ease reflects maturing stability

It is a byproduct,not a goal.

2.Absence of ease is not failure

Bodies and minds differ;ease manifests uniquely.

3.Ease remains within experience

It is a signpost, not the destination.

5.Relating to Ease Without Attachment

1.Acknowledge it without grasping

Know it is present, but do not hold it.

2.Do not measure progress by comfort

Depth lies in clarity,not sensation.

3.Allow ease to come and go

No welcoming,no chasing.

6.Deepening Beyond Ease

1.Maintain steady awareness

Do not lose clarity in comfort.

2.Shift from comfort to clarity

Ease supports awareness,not indulgence.

3.Let ease infuse daily life

Mature ease naturally expresses itself beyond meditation.

Conclusion

Ease is not the goal, but the natural response to releasing effort. When resistance and grasping dissolve, balance returns—and ease quietly flows in.
