Stir-Fried Tofu Skin with Two Peppers

Summary:

This is a vibrant and flavorful vegan stir-fry where chewy tofu skin pairs perfectly with crisp green and red bell peppers, creating a light yet satisfying dish with simple seasoning.

Ingredients:

Tofu skin (bean curd sheets) 200g (cut into strips)

Green bell pepper 100g (sliced)

Red bell pepper 100g (sliced)

Light soy sauce 1.5 tablespoons

Vegetarian oyster sauce 1 tablespoon (optional)

Salt 1/2 teaspoon

White pepper powder to taste (optional)

Five-spice powder 1/2 teaspoon (optional)

Vegetable oil 1 tablespoon

Water 2 tablespoons

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:
Cut the tofu skin into wide strips. Slice the green and red bell peppers.

2. Blanch the Tofu Skin (Optional):
Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the tofu skin for 10 seconds. Drain well to remove any raw taste and improve texture.

3. Heat the Pan:
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced green and red bell peppers, stir-frying for 30 seconds until slightly softened but still crisp.

4. Add the Tofu Skin:
Toss in the tofu skin strips, stirring well to combine them with the peppers.

5. Season the Dish:
Add light soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce (optional), salt, white pepper powder (optional), and five-spice powder (optional). Stir to coat the ingredients evenly.

6. Simmer for Flavor:
Pour in 2 tablespoons of water, cover, and let simmer for 1 minute to allow the tofu skin to absorb the seasoning while keeping the peppers crisp.

7. Serve and Enjoy:
Transfer to a serving plate and enjoy immediately. The tofu skin is flavorful, and the bell peppers add a fresh, crisp bite.
